In 2017, Brent Zimmerman and Eric Anderson turned their vision into reality, opening the doors to Saucy’s flagship brewpub in the heart of the Hingetown neighborhood of Cleveland. Housed in the historic Steelman Building, Saucy quickly became a cornerstone of the neighborhood’s revitalization — a vibrant space where locals and visitors could gather to enjoy bold, innovative brews and delicious eats.
Saucy has grown into one of Ohio’s most celebrated craft breweries, earning accolades like Best Brewery in Cleveland in 2019, Cleveland’s Reader-Voted Best Brewery in 2024 and the Outstanding Small Business Award in 2020 for community-driven efforts during the pandemic. Today, Saucy operates locations across Ohio, including the recent acquisitions of Cartridge Brewing in Maineville and Urban Meyer’s Pint House in Dublin. Each location embodies the same commitment to quality, innovation, and community that has defined Saucy since day one.
At the heart of Saucy Brew Works is Chief Brewing Officer Eric Anderson. Known for his creativity and relentless pursuit of innovation, Eric leads a team that pushes the boundaries of craft brewing with every batch. From flagship beers like Juicy ASAP to fan favorites like What’s His Nuts — a gold medal winner at the 2023 World Expo of Beer — the brewery has earned a reputation for crafting high-quality brews that cater to every palate.
That same spirit of innovation led to the creation of the Lachancea Tart series, a new style of beer born in Cleveland, Ohio. Unlike traditional sours, these beers use Lachancea Thermotolerans, a lactic acid-producing yeast, instead of bacteria to create their signature tartness. Over the course of several years, the team learned that Lachancea is not a strong fermentor or ethanol producer, requiring the help of other yeasts — both ale and lager — to fully develop each beer. This unique approach has resulted in groundbreaking brews like Caught In The Rain – Lachancea Tart IPA and the Dub Jam Lachancea Tart Smoothie series, offering a refreshing, complex take on tart beers.
In 2020, Saucy Brew Works expanded its passion for brews beyond beer with the launch of Saucy Coffee — a line of small-batch artisan roasts crafted for those who crave bold flavors from morning to night. With multiple coffeehouse locations across Ohio and a variety of unique roasts available at our brewpubs and online, Saucy Coffee delivers the same commitment to quality and innovation that defines our beer.
